Whether you want to ask a question, request more information, highlight a section, etc., learning how to add comments in Confluence will make communication easier and ensure everyone can keep track of potential changes.

If you want to learn more about comments in Confluence, you've come to the right place. This article explains how to use them in the web version and the mobile app.

How to Add Comments in Confluence on PC

You can add two types of comments in Confluence: page and inline. Page comments are used to refer to the whole page/blog, not a specific section. If you're reviewing content, want to take notes on it, create reminders, ask others for feedback, etc., page comments are a great tool.

Adding page comments is simple:

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the page or blog post.
  2. Type your comment in the comment field.

Whenever someone replies or reacts to your comment, you will receive a notification about it by default. This option is called ā€œWatch this pageā€ and it helps you stay up to date with any potential changes.

If you don't want to receive notifications about the Page, follow the steps below to turn them off:

  1. Open the page or blog post in question.
  2. Tap the eye icon and uncheck "Reading Page".

If you don't see the option to add comments, it's probably because you don't have permission to do so. In this case, contact the administrator of the space and ask for authorization, since they are the only ones who can modify it.

If you use the Confluence iPhone app, you'll be happy to know that you can use it to add comments to pages.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the page or blog post where you want to add a comment.
  2. Type your comment in the field.

Confluence enables the "Watch this page" feature by default, so you're always notified if someone replies or reacts to your comments or makes changes to the page/blog post. If you find notifications annoying or distracting, you can always disable this feature.

Follow the instructions below to disable the "Watch this page" feature:

  1. Go to the page or blog post for which you don't want to receive notifications.
  2. Tap the eye icon and uncheck "Reading Page".

Keep in mind that you can only add comments to pages/blog posts if you have the necessary permissions. If you don't, you won't see the comment box.

Confluence lets you access pages and blog posts using the Android app. If you are away from your computer but want to review some content and let your colleagues know, you can do so by adding page comments.

Follow these steps to add comments using your Android device:

  1. Scroll down the page/blog post.
  2. Enter comments in the comment box.

You will receive notifications about the comment and the document in general through the "Watch this page" option. This feature helps you stay on top of the spaces you belong to. Although this option is enabled by default, you can always disable it:

  1. Navigate to the page/blog post in question.
  2. Tap the eye icon and uncheck "Reading Page".

If you don't have permission to add comments, you won't see the comments box at the bottom. Contact the space admin regarding this issue.

Unlike page comments which refer to the entire page/blog, inline comments are used to point to a specific section.

Currently, adding inline comments is possible on PC and some mobile devices. Namely, the developers are still working on this feature, which means it is not available for everyone. It is important to keep your app up to date, and you will soon be able to use the option. Nevertheless, we will explain how to do it using both the web version and the mobile application.

It is important to remember that if you add an inline comment while editing, it will only be visible to those who are also editing. Others won't be able to see it until you publish the page/blog post, even if you mentioned them in the comment.

Whenever you want to point to a particular section, it's best to use inline comments. Here's how:

  1. Open the page/blog post where you want to insert an inline comment.
