Zoom Background Blur FAQ
Why does Zoom blur parts of me?
You might be blurry because your camera is blurry. To avoid this problem altogether, consider investing in an autofocus webcam. They are fairly reasonably priced and worth buying if you frequently attend video calls. You can also manually refocus your camera; this is usually achieved by twisting the ring around the lens.
Also, make sure your camera lens is clean by dipping a silk or microfiber cloth in isopropyl alcohol and wiping it gently.
What resolution should my zoom background be blurred?
Zoom's background blur feature works by blurring everything in the room you're in during a call, except for blurring yourself. If you want to use an image for your background, Zoom recommends a minimum resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.
Why is the background blur option not showing?
If you don't see the "Blur" option in Zoom, try the following:
Make sure your computer supports the latest update
The blur feature is part of the latest client version of Zoom; therefore, you will need at least version 5.7.5 of the client downloaded to your PC or Mac. To check if you need an update:
1. Launch Zoom and log in to your account.
2. At the top right, click your profile picture.
3. Next, scroll down and select " Check for updates ".
If the latest version is installed and the blur option is not available, try turning off your computer and then turning it back on after about five minutes.
Make sure your computer meets blur background requirements
Using the blur feature requires different supported processors for Windows and macOS. For virtual background requirements, see the Zoom Help Center.
A simple way to find out if your computer's processor is powerful enough:
1. Launch Zoom and log in to your account.
2. At the top right, click your profile picture.
3. Select " Settings " > āBackgrounds and Filtersā.
4. Under "Virtual backgrounds", uncheck āI have a green screen. Ā»
5. Then hover over your virtual backgrounds queue. If you receive an error message stating that you need a green screen to support virtual backgrounds, this confirms that your computer does not support blurred backgrounds.
Notes: Blurred backgrounds are currently not available through Android and iOS mobile devices.
If you still don't see the blur background feature, consider contacting support through the Zoom Help Center.
