Like Facebook and Apple, Google has introduced a new user privacy policy to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which came into force on May 25, 2022. Google's new privacy policy helps better understand what user information the company collects. Most importantly, privacy controls have been improved to make it easier to manage your privacy. Here is everything you need to know.
Deleting your Google history made even easier
Google has always allowed you to view your activity and delete all or part of your history with a single click. Now these commands are easier to use than ever and you can manage your Google Account from your phone or computer.
Visit the My Activity page to view your Google History. Here you'll find the searches you've done and the sites you've visited across Google services, from search to Chrome, Gmail and YouTube. Tap the three-dot button to the right of any item in the list and select Delete to remove it from your history. You can do the same for each day.
You can also delete content by theme, by specific Google product or by date. To do this, in the My activity banner, click on Filter by date and product then select your period and the product before applying the filters and deleting the data you want.
Select the information Google collects about you
On the My Activity homepage, select Activity Controls from the menu on the left. Simply uncheck the services you don't want to collect information about your activities. You can take action on web and app activity, location history, YouTube history, and ad personalization.
