Everyone agrees that ad blockers can often save lives. Without them, you may have to face a huge amount of ads every time you want to check something on the web. It could take you at least twice as long to browse the web. However, there will be times when you need to disable the ad blocker.
Have you ever tried to open a page only to receive a complaint about your ad blocker? It can happen to anyone. Some websites depend on ads to make money and will require you to purchase a subscription or turn off the ad blocker. Obviously, you wouldn't be here if you're willing to pay for memberships.
How to Disable Ad Blocker on Chrome
Google Chrome has a rather rudimentary built-in ad blocker that blocks ads on sites it considers spam. If a site has too many ads or walls that block you from seeing the content, Chrome may block them. It can also block ads with auto-play audio.
However, the Chrome ad blocker can sometimes prevent you from opening sites that you really want to see. We will now show how to disable it for all websites. Of course, you can turn the ad blocker back on whenever you want.
- Open Chrome.
- Click More in the upper right corner.
- Open Settings.
- Click on Privacy and Security.
- Select Site Settings.
- Click on Announcements.
- Click "Blocked on sites that tend to display intrusive ads".
If you want to reverse this, just follow the above to the end and enable "Blocked on sites that tend to show intrusive ads".
You can also disable the ad blocker only for specific websites. It may be more convenient if you know the sites in advance. You can still keep the ad blocker turned on for all other sites. Here's what you need to do:
- Open Chrome.
- Go to the website where you want to disable the ad blocker.
- Click the lock sign in the address bar.
- Open site settings.
- Click on Announcements.
- Enable the "Always allow on this site" feature.
- Refresh the page and you should no longer block ads.
How to Disable Ad Blocker in Firefox
Firefox offers a high level of security and protection to its users. That's great, but sometimes it can block you from opening certain websites if it mistakenly considers them to contain malware. If you have Ad Block installed on Firefox, here's how to disable it:
- Launch Firefox.
- Click the Firefox button.
- When the menu opens, click Add-ons.
- The Add-ons Manager is about to open, but it may take a few seconds.
- When it opens, click Extensions.
- Select Ad Block and click Disable.
Here! You disabled Ad Block, but the extension is still there. You can activate it whenever you need it again. On the other hand, if you click "Remove" instead of "Disable", you will remove the Ad Block extension from your browser.
Of course, you can also disable Ad Block only for specific sites. Here's how:
- Launch Firefox.
- Open the website where you want to allow ads.
- Click the Ad Block icon in the address bar.
- Click on âActivated on this websiteâ.
- When you click on it, it should automatically change to "Disabled on this website".
That's it! Reload the page and check if it is really disabled. If you have a different version of the ad blocker, you may need to click "Do not run pages from this domain". This action disables Ad Block for the entire domain (the site and all of its pages).
How to Disable Ad Blockers on iPhone
If you need to disable ad blockers on your iPhone for some reason, follow these steps:
- Open Settings.
- Tap Safari.
- Open the General section.
- Tap Content blockers.
- You will now see all the content blockers you have installed.
- You can opt out of a specific ad blocker by turning it off.
However, if you only disable one ad blocker, you may still not be able to load a certain website. If you have more content blockers, you may need to turn them all off. You can reactivate them later.
You can also disable ad blockers for a particular website. Here's how:
- Open Preferences.
- Tap Website Preferences.
- Tap Content blockers.
- You will see a list of websites.
- You can turn off ad blockers for each of them just by tapping the toggle.
- Repeat this action for each website you have in mind.
- Close Preferences and go back to Safari to check if it works.
That's it! Again, you can change your mind whenever you want. Just go to Preferences and reverse the action.
How to Disable Ad Blockers on Android
Most Android users use the Chrome browser, which offers decent protection against potentially threatening websites. But what if the protection is slowing down your system and not allowing you to open a certain website? You can disable ad blockers:
- Open Chrome.
- Tap the three dots in the upper right corner.
- Go to Chrome settings.
- Open Advanced Settings.
- Tap Site Settings.
- Scroll until you see pop-ups and advertisements.
- Tap on both.
That's it! It is essential to enable both pop-ups and ads. It is not enough to select ads only to disable blockers. If you want to turn ad blockers back on, just open settings and tap Pop-Ups and Ads one more time to turn them off.
On the other hand, you can also disable ad blockers for particular sites only. Here's what you need to do:
- Open Chrome.
- Go to the website where you want to allow ads.
- When the website loads, tap the three dots in the upper right corner.
- Select Site Settings.
- Scroll down until you see Announcements.
- Tap Allow.
Here! Unfortunately, there is no way to disable ad blockers for all trusted websites at once. You will need to open each website and repeat this action.
Notes: You will not be able to deactivate the ad blocker if you are in simplified mode. Easy Mode is a great feature that makes websites load faster and smoother, but it also automatically disables some ads. Therefore, you may need to disable Easy Mode before you can do anything about ads.
There is always a trap
Ad blockers are pretty standard these days. In addition to blocking ads and banners, your ad blocker can protect your system. This can prevent malware and keep your device running smoothly.
However, there is always a catch. If a site requires you to disable Ad Block, there is always an option to do so. As you can see, you can either disable AdBlock for all websites or only particular sites. You may find the second option makes more sense to you.
What do you think? Did you manage to disable your ad blocker?
