How to Evolve Minions in Fate/Grand Order

When you summon minions of time and space in FGO, you don't fully equip them. Instead, you need to give them the experience (EXP) they need to reach greater heights. Unlike other RPG games, you have to use specific items to upgrade your minions.

Although FGO is a gacha game, you can still farm for EXP quite reliably. It will take a lot of time and a lot of work to max out a minion, but you can still do it with a little help. Read on to find out how.

How to quickly level up minions

FGO is not like a typical RPG game where you can level up as fast as you are willing to work. Your daily farming is minimal, and you will need Action Points (AP) to play in Free Quests and Main Quests. Unless you don't mind paying real money to top up your action points, you'll only be able to farm a limited number of experience cards per day.

You regenerate AP over time, and your AP cap depends on your Master level. Currently, the highest possible AP a player can have via natural regeneration is 142. You can use Saint Quartz or Apples to gain more, even beyond the natural limit.

Besides using AP to play daily quests, you can also sacrifice your other minions as EXP fodder. Before we get into the nitty-gritty, let's take a look at daily mission farming.

Leveling up your minions with experience cards

Using experience cards is the best way to level up your minions. These cards are rewards for completing daily quests. Daily Quests are divided into four or five difficulties:

  • Basic (10 AP)
  • Intermediate (20 AP)
  • Advanced (30 AP)
  • Expert (40 PA)
  • Extreme (40 AP)

The higher the difficulty, the more EXP you earn for completing it. Conversely, you will also spend more AP doing so.

Each daily quest consists of three parts:

  • Training field
  • Gathering of men
  • Treasure chest

Ember Gathering is the section that rewards you with experience cards once you defeat enemies. The Training Field gives items while entering the Treasure Chest is your source of QP, the currency needed to complete various tasks in FGO.

Experience cards fall into eight types, seven of which correspond to the original seven minion classes in FGO:

  • Savoir
  • Archer
  • Lancer
  • Cavalier
  • Roulette
  • Assassin
  • Berserker
  • All classes card

Using the corresponding experience card on a minion will give them additional EXP. For classes outside of the original seven, you should only use All-Class cards. This allows you to get the most out of every experience card you get.

To upgrade your minions, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Synthesize menu.
  2. Select "Servant Reinforcement".
  3. Select up to 20 experience cards.
  4. Use them.

Also, different class cards drop on certain days. You should already be farming experience cards daily, but if you plan to save a little more until the quests change, go for it. Here's what you can get each day of the week:

  • Monday: Lancer, Assassin, Berserker
  • Tuesday: Saber, Cavalier, Berserker
  • Wednesday: Archer, Caster, Berserker
  • Thursday: Lancer, Assassin, Berserker
  • Friday: Saber, Cavalier, Berserker
  • Saturday: Archer, Caster, Berserker
  • Sunday: All classes randomly

However, you cannot get experience cards for all classes in daily quests. You must instead roll for them in the Friend Point Gacha. This issue can make leveling non-standard class minions more difficult.

Even so, if you have a few extras lying around, there's nothing stopping you from using any card on any minion.

When playing the daily quests, try to form a team to complete them as quickly as possible. The best teams can eliminate an enemy in one turn, which saves you a lot of time.

Beginners looking to farm the easier difficulties, as they produce the best experience cards, can make friends on FGO and use their support minions. These minions are able to handle easy missions on their own, making them a powerful early game strategy.

If you have a lot of Holy Quartz and Golden, Silver or Copper Apples, you can restore AP and continue farming. It depends on your stock, and if you have a specific class you want to level up quickly, you might want to compromise on consuming more AP to get what you need.

After gaining access to four-star experience cards, we recommend that you burn your worst for mana prisms. You can use Mana Prisms to summon more minions by exchanging them for tickets.

Other ways to get experience cards are:

  • Main Story Quests
  • Free quests
  • Event Rewards
  • Event Exchange Shops

There's a lot of planning and strategizing that goes into the daily grind. Once you gain access to more vital minions, completing daily quests will be a simple affair.

Sacrifice minions

Sacrificing unwanted minions is also a great way to help five-star minion level increase. As a gacha game, you will definitely get minions you don't need. You can either keep them or sacrifice them as EXP fodder.

Feeding the same Servant class to the target Servant also rewards bonus EXP. This trait also reflects the use of experience cards.

The exact steps for using EXP cards also allow you to sacrifice minions.

How to Upgrade Minions in FGO

In FGO, upgrading your minions is called upgrading, and upgrading is one of them. Other ways to boost your minion are:

  • Improved Noble Phantasm

Each minion has a Noble Phantasm, their weapon of choice. In FGO, a Noble Phantasm refers to a special card that allows them to use their ultimate powers during battles. These powers can be devastating attacks, healing or giving enemies negative statuses.

When you upgrade a Noble Phantasm, it becomes more effective in combat. To improve it, you must earn at least two copies of the same minion. Performing this action will cause increased damage and overload effects.

Here's how to merge two of the same minions:

  1. Head to the Enhancement menu.
  2. Select “Noble Phantasm”.
  3. Choose the Noble Phantasm you want to upgrade.
  4. Go ahead and combine the copies.
  5. Repeat if you have more copies.

There is no reason to postpone Noble Phantasm Enhancement, as you cannot have two of the same Servant on the battlefield.

Minions can perform Ascension, which involves farming unique items and spending them. However, you need to upgrade them before this is possible. Each Servant can Ascend four times.

Minions who level up have new maximum level caps and gain new skills. Rewards make them more effective in combat.

Ascension works by doing the following:

  1. Go to the Enhancement menu.
  2. Select "Ascension".
  3. Select the minion you wish to raise.
  4. Spend all necessary resources.
  5. Repeat for other minions if you can.

Remember that you need more than materials and items, as you spend large amounts of QP on Ascension. Only Ascend when you can afford it.

The materials and items you need to farm for this process come from the story, daily quests, events, and more. It will take you a while to collect enough materials, so you should aim to complete the daily grind and earn enough QP to last a long time.

Rinse and repeat

The process of upgrading and upgrading your minions is tedious unless you're willing to shell out the cash. However, there are enough resources to allow you to max minions without spending a single penny. All you need is patience, time and friends.
