Sometimes life gets in the way of our social media goals. You've probably had those moments when you're tapping on your phone, but something happens and you're forced to abort the mission. Or maybe you're in a rush to post something quickly before leaving for work, but your internet connection drops in the middle of posting.

Losing your drafts can be quite frustrating, especially if it happens when you're almost done typing. It can be difficult trying to retrace your line of thought and start over.

The good news is that there's a way to save drafts on Facebook so they don't get lost. But where are these drafts stored and how do you find them?

How to Find Facebook Drafts on PC

(a) Facebook Page

Here's how to find drafts for your Facebook page when using a PC:

  1. Log into your Facebook account.
  2. Click "Pages" in the navigation menu on the left side of your screen. This should open a list of all the pages you manage.
  3. Select the page whose drafts you want to search.
  4. Once the page opens, select "Publishing Tools" from the navigation menu on the left side of your screen.
  5. Click on “Drafts”. At this point, you should see a list of all your drafts.
  6. Click on a draft to open it. If the draft is too long, you will only see a preview.
  7. You can now edit the draft as you wish or publish it immediately. You can also schedule automatic updates.
  8. If you still want to save the draft even after editing it,
    • Click on the button appearing under "News feeds", then click on the "Share now" button.
    • Click on “Save”. This changes the "Share Now" button to "Save as Draft".
    • Click "Save as Draft".

(b) Personal Profile

The Facebook desktop app is the perfect desktop experience. You get everything you need to stay connected when working, shopping or traveling. On the Facebook home screen, you can quickly post updates on what you're doing and what you're thinking using one of three different status types: Status Update, Photo/Video and Post link. The sidebar on the left contains your News Feed, so scrolling through all your updates is just a click away.

Despite all its good points, the Facebook desktop app fails terribly when it comes to managing drafts. For one thing, it doesn't allow you to save drafts in profile mode. Your draft is only recoverable if you don't close or refresh the app.

Browsers don't help either. For example, if you end writing an article on Chrome, you lose the draft as soon as you refresh the page. Your message cannot be retrieved.

How to Find Facebook Drafts on Android

a) Facebook page

The Facebook application for devices running the Android operating system supports the management of Facebook pages. If you are forced to abandon the creation of an article before hitting the "Publish" button, you can always find the draft and publish or edit it further.

Here's how to find a draft on a Facebook page when using an Android phone:

  1. Launch the app and enter your credentials to login.
  2. Tap the three horizontal lines in the upper right corner.
  3. Tap "Pages". This should open a list of all the pages under your management. Then select the page whose drafts you want to search. If you can't see drafts in the settings menu, after the new update.
  4. Download and open the Facebook Business Suite app (Pages Manager).
  5. Tap the Articles and Stories icon at the bottom of the screen, then tap the drop-down arrow next to Published, select 'Drafts'. At this point, you should see a list of all the drafts you've saved.
  6. To post or delete a draft, tap the three vertical dots.

(b) Personal Profile

There are several things to like about the Facebook app for Android when used for personal accounts. Notably, it differs from the PC version because it allows you to save and view as many drafts as you want. However, there's a catch: you can only view a draft via a notification sent by Facebook moments after you save it. If you delete the notification, you can only view all drafts again by creating a new one and saving it.

Let's see the specific steps to find your personal drafts on an Android device:

  1. Launch the Facebook app.
  2. Tap the "What do you think" box and create a temporary draft.
  3. Hit the Back button and "Save as Draft".
  4. Once the draft has been saved, you will receive a notification confirming it.
  5. Tap the notification.
  6. Press the back button again. You should now see a list of all your drafts, starting with the most recent.

You can edit or even publish drafts as you see fit. However, it is important to note that drafts are automatically deleted after three days.
