In this article, we'll explain how to order an Uber for someone else using two popular methods. Whichever method you choose, make sure you always have the latest version of the Uber app to avoid potential issues.
The first method: Order a ride for someone else using the Uber app on your phone
The following steps will show you how to order an Uber ride for someone using your mobile device:
- Open the Uber app
- Tap "Where to?" »
- Change the driver by clicking on the "For me" option
- Once the drop-down menu has displayed your new options, tap "Choose who rides"
From there, you can allow the Uber app to access your contact list and choose a phone number from there, or you can deny access and enter the number manually. This should be the phone number of someone you're scheduling an Uber ride for.
After that, a new window will appear explaining the terms and conditions of this feature, so be sure to read everything and hit accept. This will take you to a new form where you need to fill in your friend's information.
Simply enter your friend's first and last name and tap Continue. The Uber app will then have your friend's phone number and full name. Also, it's worth mentioning that the Uber driver also sees the information you enter, so make sure you enter everything correctly.

The second method: order a ride for someone else using the Uber family profile
If you're looking for a more permanent solution, then Uber Family Profile is the way to go. Using this option, you can add up to four people to a profile. All members of the group will be able to order races for the other members of the list.
You can create a family account by doing the following:
- Open your Uber app
- Press the menu button (the three horizontal lines)
- Tap Settings (usually the last option in the sidebar menu)
- Select the Add family profile option located in the Profile section
- Tap Add Family Member – your contact list will be launched
- Find a number you want to list as "family" and select it
- Tap Send Invitation
The family member you want to add will receive your invitation and all they have to do is accept it.
The last step will ask you to select a payment method.
