How to set profile picture in Zoom

When it comes to video conferencing, Zoom is one of the best choices out there. It doesn't matter if you use it at home or in the office, it will connect your team members in no time.

But you don't have to use the video function if it's not necessary. You can simply set up a profile photo and use the audio-only option.

Adding a profile photo is more personal than showing just your name in a meeting. In this article, we'll show you how to change your profile picture and other useful customization options.

Adding a Zoom profile picture

One of the great things about Zoom is that you can customize your profile in multiple ways. To change the settings, you will need to access your profile through the Zoom web portal. So, if you have the perfect profile picture ready, here's what you need to do:

  1. Log in to your Zoom account and select Settings.

  2. Click on Profile, you will see the option to change your profile picture. To select Switch.

  3. Upload the image you want and adjust it to fit well.

You can refresh your page and check your profile picture. If you're not happy with how it looks, just repeat the process. Or, if you change your mind about a Zoom profile picture, just select Delete.

Also remember that your image should be no larger than 2MB and should be in one of the following formats: PNG, JPG or GIF.

On the same profile page, you can also edit other personal information. Next to your profile picture is your display name. You can select edit in the upper right corner of the screen and edit it. You can also edit your email address and change your Zoom user type.

Adding an image during the call

The next time you're on a Zoom video call and decide to turn off your camera, the other participants will see your profile picture. But you can also add a profile picture during your Zoom video call.

  1. Right click on Suite the video preview and select Edit profile.

  2. When you stop the video, you will be able to see your image. The option to change your profile picture will not always appear. Sometimes you click "More" only to find the "Rename" option.

Disable profile pictures

You may also notice that no one's profile pictures appear in this meeting. This happens when the meeting moderator has disabled the option. If you are the moderator, you can enable this option from the Zoom website. Just follow these steps:

  1. Go to 'Parameters” on the left side and make sure you are on the Reunion Island tab at the top.

  2. Scroll to 'Hide profile pictures of meeting attendees.' Make sure it is enabled. If that doesn't work, Zoom warns that the feature is only available on version 5.0.0 or later.

Add an image to your Google account for Zoom

There are four ways to log in to your Zoom account. You can use your work email address, Facebook, single sign-on, or use your Google account. In the latter case, Zoom will automatically upload your Google or Gmail profile picture as the Zoom profile picture.

If your Google profile is without a picture, you can add it to it first, then sign in to Zoom. This way you will have the same image in both places with one download. Here's how to change your Google Account photo:

  1. Log in to your Gmail account.
  2. Select Parameters in the upper right corner of the screen.

  3. In the menu, select My picture then choose an image.
  4. Upload a profile photo of your choice.
  5. When the image is uploaded, select Finished.

You can also change your Google profile picture from your mobile device. But keep in mind that regardless of where you make these changes, you'll have to wait a bit until they apply. But once they do, the same image will appear in all Google products, wherever you sign in with your account.

Frequently Asked Questions

Zoom has been around for a long time, but it's more widely used in 2022 than ever before. If you're still new to the platform, we've got answers to some more frequently asked questions here:

My profile picture is not showing in the meeting. What is happening ?

Zoom makes it easy to connect, and you don't even need an account to join someone's meeting. Assuming you clicked the link to join someone's meeting, you're probably not connected. If your profile picture is not showing, you need to go to the Zoom app or in a web browser, sign in, then join the meeting with the meeting ID (which should have been sent to you in the invite ).

Also, remember that Zoom meeting admins have a lot of control over what you can do in the meeting. This means that they may have disabled the option to show profile pictures during their meeting. If you're sure you're signed in to the right account, that's probably why you can't see your profile picture. To confirm, create your own meeting and see if your profile picture appears.

Do I even need a profile picture?

Although it is not absolutely necessary to have one, it can be a great asset with many benefits. For one thing, depending on the type of meeting you're in, a profile picture can be a great substitute for turning off your camera. When you talk, your profile picture shows, making it more personal and letting others see who they're talking to.

Can I delete my profile picture?

If you update your profile picture during a meeting, beware; there's no way to change it from the meeting (so be sure to select an image that you're comfortable with everyone watching for a while).

To remove your profile picture, you will need to do so from a web browser. Click on “Profile” in the left menu, then click on “Edit Profile”. Tap "Delete" and confirm to get rid of your photo.

Choosing the right profile picture is a big deal

How many profile pictures do you have across all apps and platforms? Probably a lot. When setting up your Zoom profile picture, you might wonder what kind of message it sends?

Is it professional enough or is it too serious? Or maybe it's better not to think about it too much. When you find the right image, just follow the steps above and add it to your Zoom profile.
