Article updated on September 21, 2022. We tell you how to download and install the final version of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15.
The final versions of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 are available from the Monday 20 September. The release date of these new OSes had been confirmed by Apple during its September 14 keynote. These updates come with a host of new features for iPhone and iPad.
In this update, Apple has added features to FaceTime that, for the first time, will allow Android and PC users to participate in conversations. iMessage is getting improvements that make it easier to follow links and photos sent by your friends. The iPad gets a complete home screen overhaul, and multitasking finally gets the boost it's needed for years.

Prepare your iPhone or iPad before installing the update
Before installing the latest update, take a few minutes to perform routine maintenance on your iPhone or iPad. Not only will this help the update go smoothly, but you'll also free up storage space and have a fresh backup in case something goes wrong during the installation.
Be sure to get rid of clutter like photos and apps you no longer need. If you haven't done this recently, you can also create a new backup so you don't lose anything important on your device (here's a guide on how to do this.) Once you've done this, your device will be ready to receive the latest update:Devices compatible with iOS 15 and iPadOS 15

How to install iOS 15 and iPadOS 15?
Once the update is available starting September 20 (Apple typically releases updates around 19 p.m. local time), you'll install it like any other software update. It's a good idea to plug your device into a charger to prevent the update from draining the battery, and a strong Wi-Fi connection will help speed up the process without draining your plan.
Here are the steps to follow on an iPhone:
- Go to Settings;
- Select General;
- Tap Software Update.

Your device will connect to Apple's servers and prompt you to download and install the update. Follow the prompts to complete the installation. When your device restarts, it will be running iOS 15. Follow the same steps with an iPad to update it to iPadOS 15.
