On October 5, 2022, Microsoft began rolling out its new Windows 11 operating system in its final version. It succeeds Windows 10, which was supposed to be the last of the Windows systems and was introduced in July 2015. It will continue to be supported for a few more years, at least until 2025.
If Windows 10 will remain supported and will not be replaced by Windows 11, it is because the minimum configuration requirements are quite strict and many PCs cannot be upgraded. Among the prerequisites, PCs must include a TPM chip. At the processor level, only the latest processors are eligible. Therefore, an 8th generation Intel or AMD Ryzen 8 and later processors are supported. Therefore, it is unlikely that an upgrade will be offered to computers sold more than 2000 years ago.
Should I upgrade to Windows 11 now?
If you are one of the owners of a compatible machine, the question is whether you really need to upgrade now to Windows 11. Microsoft does not yet recommend it or, in any case, not for everyone. In fact, the publisher has explained that the distribution will be done gradually and that it aims at mid-2022 as a target to provide the upgrade to all compatible PCs.
On the official upgrade tools download page that we will present to you below, Microsoft even encourages you to wait to be informed via Windows Update to activate the transition to Windows 11.
If the publisher is suspicious, it's because certain updates performed when the major versions of Windows 10 arrived were not as smooth as possible, such as in the fall of 2022 when a major bug forced Microsoft to pause the broadcast. Since then, the retransmissions are more gradual to avoid this type of problem.
Therefore, it is advisable to be careful and ideally wait for Windows Update to tell you to take the step. If you decide to force the update, be sure to back up your personal files to an external storage system beforehand. Also remember to prepare your PC to receive this update.
1. Go through Windows Update
If you have read the previous paragraph, then you know that this method is the path of wisdom and the one recommended by Microsoft. It is also the one that will require a bit of patience, especially if your computer was not purchased very recently, as the newest machines will be served first.
To see if your PC is one of those eligible today, go to Windows 10 Settings under "Update and Security." Run an update check and see if a message prompts you to upgrade to Windows 11.
Otherwise, install all available Windows 10 updates and reboot the system before scanning again. If nothing is offered after another reboot, go to the second method.
2. With the Windows 11 setup wizard
If Windows Update refuses to offer you an upgrade to Windows 11 but you know your machine is compatible, there is a way to force it. As with the major Windows 10 upgrades, Microsoft offers a tool that will allow you to upgrade to the latest version of the Windows 11 system.
The tool is easy to use, but it will first prompt you to verify compatibility through another Microsoft software, the Windows 11 Compatibility Tool, also known as PC Health Check, also known as Windows PC Health check before proceeding with the upgrade procedure.

With the announcement of the release of the upcoming Windows 11, Microsoft has also introduced a new tool aimed at verifying your computer's compatibility with the new operating system: PC Health Check (Windows 11 Compatibility Tool).

3. With Windows 11 media creation tool to install a clean system.
The arrival of Windows 11 can also be an opportunity to get a fresh start with your PC. It is also a good way to avoid possible errors that could cause the upgrade process. We will probably discover some of them in the coming weeks.
Of course, this requires a bit of preparation on your part by manually recovering all your files, or even copying important items from your system to an external hard drive. Then simply mount the recovered ISO file (right-click > mount) and run the .exe file.
If you recover the ISO file from another PC, you can burn it to a USB key to launch it on any other computer.

Windows 11 Media Creation Tool is a very simple utility to create bootable storage media to install Microsoft's new operating system: Windows 11.
